Staple Free!!!

Happy Thursday everyone! As of this afternoon I am officially staple free which is the next step in the recovery process. My Nurse was perfect. Straight forward, to the point, and conducted the process with efficiency and thoroughness. God bless our amazing nurses!

Here's how it worked. The nurse had a small, plastic pair of scissors/staple removers that she used to cut each of the 30 staples in half. After my scalp was all disinfected, she went to work removing every other staple to ensure the staples had done their job of keeping my skin together. I only took two extra stregthen Tylenol ahead of time which was just fine.

It stung a little bit each time she cut the staple. Each cut resulted in the staples pretty much snapping in half and falling out which was no biggie. In my mind I was dreading the idea of having to have the staples pulled out with some crazy pair of needle nose pliars...and thanks to all those who volunteered to remove the staples for me...sorta. :)

Now, I am able to put ointment on the scar until it is healed. Apparently it will still be sore for some time to come and it will probably take another month to be sorta normal-ish...

There's a tender spot on the left side from where the hole in my head was which the Nurse told Rob to keep an eye on. Rob actually found the whole process pretty interesting and said that he could take care of any staples or removals in the event of any future zombie apocalypse where we have to survive without hospitals. He may have been watching too much Walking Dead. LOL

All in all, it was a great day and things went very well. I am feeling pretty good. My voice isn't back so I am being referred to the Kaiser Roseville Speech Dept to see what they can come up with. It could be a few different reasons, but we will take it one day at a time. My right side isn't quite as strong as the left which is normal since the tumor was on my left.

My energy levels are no where near where they were or what I'm used to, but every day is a blessing. I have to keep walking per my nurse. I did some really light yoga yesterday (mostly just stretching- no inversions or anything that puts pressure on my brain), I am trying to relax, meditate, and my Pandora has been playing lots of Yoga Sanctuary, Relaxation, and Southern Cross Radio. My YL esssential oils are pretty much being diffussed non-stop around here too which makes for a lovely little place to recover.

Now, for some more fun! I got to check out my films and that was a BAT! (Big Ass Tumor) I still won't have the best details until I see my nuero Doc on Jan 29th, but it was so interesting to check out my poor little walnut!

Top of my head with the view of the tumor...

Holy Cow Bell! That dang BAT that has apparently been there for a LONG time! The line down my walnut should be much straighter. The meningioma had been pushing down on my grey matter for a while. Look at that thing! And, it really does look like a sand dollar...I used to really like sand dollars...LOL

Yep- that's the hole in my head!!!! See it?!?! This is the most recent after CAT scan I have at the moment. I have another CAT Scan on the 28th of January...

That's tonight's update my dear friends. More blogs to come very soon. Just need to get some R&R, but I wanted you to know how it went today! Much LOVE to all of you!

XOXOXO
